I Believe the Kingdom of God Isn't Efficient
The Kingdom of God Isn't Efficient
Jesus telling parables isn't efficient.
The Good Samaritan wasn't being efficient when he stopped to help the beaten man.
The Father of the Prodigal Son defied his oldest son's cry for efficiency when he threw the party to welcome his youngest son home.
The sower wasn't efficient when he threw seeds on the path, the rocks and in the thorny places.
"Why don't you just tell us what you mean Jesus? It'd be a lot more efficient if you just skipped the cute stories!"
"Why were you sleeping on the boat Jesus? Many more fish could've been caught had you had been awake and working!"
Speaking of fish, we're going to need the receipts for the fish and bread you gave away.
And while we're at it, I'd like a detailed list of what you accomplished over those 40 days in the wilderness.
The Kingdom of God isn't efficient, because it relies on grace, and grace can't be quantified in a spreadsheet. Grace can only be given.
