I Believe in Forgiveness

“ I believe in forgiveness “

Do I? Let’s see. 

Do I believe God forgives me? Yes, absolutely. I am a sinner and daily I ask God to forgive my sins known and unknown.  As a believer and follower of Christ I know this to be true. This belief took time to truly understand. I heard a podcast once, the podcaster said it is so simple, but it’s not easy (referring to forgiveness). Yes!!! I likely said out loud in my car but why is that? 

Colossians 3:13 (KJV): Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. 

Human to human forgiveness is not so easy. How can that be? After all God has done for me, am I that selfish and self centered that I cannot forgive another human? 

That hits home for me and likely some of you. How do we fix this? Hard work, lots of prayer, read/study the Bible and ask God for help, mercy, grace, and we may have to apologize (truly apologize) or accept (truly accept) an apology to and from one another. 

During Lent, I decided to do a social media cleanse. It has allowed me take a break from human opinion (including my own). I ask God to forgive those of us who fall into the trap of anger and heated emotions. Instead let us all grow closer to Him. 

Forgiveness is freedom to let go and live this beautiful earthly life we have been given until we are called Home.
