Thank you, Walden: June 2nd Evensong in Honor of Mr. Moore

As a beautiful summer sunset streamed in through the chancel windows, light anointing the assembled in the rich colors of the glass, Trinity’s pews filled for an Evensong celebration of the incomparable legacy of Director of Music Walden Moore, whose forty-year tenure at the organ bench will draw to a close at the end of this month. While the service and the subsequent community dinner were of course also colored with the sadness of farewells, the overwhelming feeling pouring from the evening was gratitude. Walden Moore leaves us at the absolute peak of his powers as a musician, truly a one-man institution in the world of Anglican choirmaster-organists. More, we are much the better for the grace, equanimity and deep humanity with which he has served this parish for nearly half a century. Thank you, thank you, Walden Moore.
