The Rev. Heidi Thorsen

Assistant Rector

Heidi became the Assistant Rector at Trinity on the Green in April 2020. Previously, she worked as a chaplain for three years at Yale New Haven Hospital, while serving as Trinity’s Outreach and Justice Ministries Coordinator. As the Outreach Coordinator Heidi worked closely with Chapel on the Green, spending every Sunday serving alongside a diverse community of people faced with hunger, homelessness, poverty, and addictions. Heidi is grateful to stay connected to this community through her broader ministry at Trinity and throughout City of New Haven. She also serves as Associate Chaplain to the Episcopal Church at Yale (ECY), a close partner of Trinity on the Green.

Heidi is a graduate of Stanford University (BA English Literature, BA Drama, ‘12), Union Theological Seminary (MDiv, ‘17) and Berkeley Divinity School at Yale (STM, ‘19).

Originally from California, Heidi first lived on the East Coast in 2013, moving to New Haven as a participant in the St. Hilda’s House Episcopal Service Corps Program where she met her spouse, Will Oxford. Beyond church, Heidi enjoys hiking, baking, writing religious icons, and spending quality time with her husband and their two beautiful cats.
