Choir of Men & Boys

Founded in 1885, Trinity’s Choir of Men & Boys is the oldest continuously operating choir of men and boys in Connecticut. One of the oldest choirs of its kind in the United States, the Choir of Men & Boys is a bulwark of the Anglican choral tradition in America. In 2020, the choir marks its 135th anniversary and continues to carry forth this vibrant music forward into the 21st century.

The Men & Boys’ schedule includes weekly musical leadership of Sunday services as well as various concert performances throughout the year. The choir is also regularly involved with community outreach activities through its benefit concerts for and appearances at institutions such as the Ronald McDonald House and Smilow Cancer Center, and it has also contributed to Trinity’s outreach through Chapel on the Green.

The Boys have a separate identity as the Trinity Boys Choir. In this guise they have sung services and concerts in prominent venues throughout Connecticut, the Eastern United States, and Canada. Most recently, the Boys toured Virginia in the summer of 2019, garnering praise for their appearances in Williamsburg, Charlottesville, and Staunton. The Trinity Boys also travel abroad and have won acclaim for their performances in England and Italy. In return for singing services and representing Trinity in their performances and activities outside the parish, musically qualified boys from all over Connecticut receive a tuition-free, world-class musical education regardless of religious, racial, or socioeconomic background and reap proven benefits including high musical achievement, improved focus, language and math skills, social skills, and friendships that often last a lifetime. Recent graduates of the Boys Choir have won admission and scholarships to the nation’s most prominent secondary and post-secondary institutions such as Choate, Juilliard, and Yale. One parent recently remarked that “sending my two boys through the Trinity chorister program was the best decision I have ever made as a parent.”
